Free Excel Tools

To help you get started with the application of the theory presented in the Handbook and on this website, we have prepared several Excel spreadsheets. From these templates you can easily create your own spreadsheets, tailored to the situation at hand. So there will not be any password protected sheets et cetera. For now the following free spreadsheets are scheduled for release:

Description Status
1 System configuration A1: the conventional activated sludge system for secondary treatment. More info..... Released !!!
2 System configuration A2: the conventional activated sludge system for secondary treatment, including primary settling. More info..... Released !!!
3 System configuration C1: the conventional activated sludge system for tertiary treatment: nitrogen removal. More info..... Released !!!

Whereas the first spreadsheet will be available for everybody to download, the other two will only be sent upon request to people who have bought the handbook. Remember that we are in the business of selling our handbooks.....So how should you apply for spreadsheet number 2 and 3 ? It's simple: just sent us an email at info@wastewaterhandbook.com.....we will ask you for a password (something only people will know who are in possession of the book). If you supply the correct answer, we'll sent you the requested spreadsheets !

Available spreadsheets

Conventional Secondary Treatment

  • Configuration with aeration tank, final settler, thickener and anaerobic digester
  • Input section for the characterisation of the influent and the activated sludge system
  • Calculation of sludge quantity and composition
  • Minimal total costs design of the system of aeration tank and final settler using the solids flux theory
  • Minimal total costs design of the system of thickener and sludge digester
  • Calculation of system performance: nutrient demand, excess sludge production, oxygen demand and biogas production
  • Mass balance check
  • Economic evaluation using annualized total costs
